Kansai Airports Group received the 2022 Osaka Climate Change Action Award* for its BCP construction project. In response to the damage caused by Typhoon Jebi in September 2018, Kansai International Airport took measures in many areas, such as raising the seawalls around the airport island with an additional amount to the normal amount of raising, and we also added more height against the expected rise in sea level due to weather fluctuations.
The award was given in recognition of these disaster prevention projects which aim to mitigate and control the impacts of unexpected large typhoons and other events caused by climate change and to minimize their impact on the Kansai economy, as the best-quality initiative in the field of adaptation from comprehensive perspectives such as continuity and spillover effects.
