The Kansai Airports Group is working to promote the SDGs with the aim of realizing a sustainable society. Here are some of our major initiatives in the area of "customer satisfaction improvement."

We are making use of various IT technologies to provide a more convenient and smooth experience of Fast Travel.

Smart lanes
Since multiple customers can use the inspection lane at the same time, congestion is reduced and baggage inspection can be completed smoothly. It was introduced at Osaka Itami Airport for the first time in Japan for domestic flights.

Osaka Itami Airport ranked first in the "OAG Punctuality League 2023," a comprehensive ranking of on-time flight performance of airlines and airports around the world, announced by OAG, a company that collects and provides aviation information.

At the World Airport Awards 2024, an international airport evaluation conducted by Skytrax, a British airline services research company, Kansai International Airport was awarded first place in the "World's Best Airport for Baggage Delivery."

The "World's Best Airport for Baggage Delivery" award recognizes airports for their waiting time for baggage pickup, efficiency of baggage delivery, and handling of lost baggage. This is the eighth time Kansai International Airport has won the award. The record of zero lost baggage since the opening of the airport is a result of the daily efforts of the everyone involved, including airport staff, airlines, and ground handling companies.

Kansai International Airport was ranked 7th in the "World's Best Airport in Asia" category and 4th in the "World's Best Airports by Passenger Number (20-50 million passengers)" category. Additionally, Osaka Itami Airport was ranked 4th in the "World's Best Domestic Airport" category.

Convenient facility for people with disabilities

There are multifunctional toilets in various parts of the airport that can be used by anyone, including passengers in wheelchairs and people with physical disabilities, as well as facilities equipped with ostomates.
The multifunctional toilet can also be used for assistance dogs. (Please prepare pet sheets, etc.)

The airport is part of the journey. We are constantly making every little effort to make the airport more convenient.

"A smartphone is about to run out of charge" -> Free charging spot

"Using airport with small children"-> Baby rooms, kids' spaces, rental strollers, etc.

"Coming to the airport with a dog" -> Toilet for dogs

  • Dogs other than assistance dogs are not allowed to enter the building.

"Leaving luggage at the airport" or "Sending baggage to the airport in advance" -> Baggage storage and home delivery services, etc.

Services in a variety of languages and cultures

The airport is a facility used by people with various languages and cultures.

Kansai International Airport displays signs and menus in five languages (Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean). In addition, pictograms are used to indicate signs and ingredients, as an effort to convey the meaning even without letters.

There are also Halal certified restaurants that serve dishes cooked according to Islamic law, so you can travel with peace of mind.

The hotel in the airport also has guest rooms for Muslims to spend a comfortable time.

The SDGs stand for the "Sustainable Development Goals," which are international goals that aim to achieve a sustainable and better world by 2030 for all people to continue to live on this planet. They consist of 17 goals and 169 targets, and pledge to leave no one behind.
