In 2001, Kansai International Airport received a special honor from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). It was selected as one of the world’s most outstanding civil engineering projects of the 20th century and has been highly praised for its innovative construction techniques as the world’s first marine airport, as well as its consideration for the environment.
