Kansai Airports is pleased to announce that two pieces of exhibits from France Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai are now installed at Kansai International Airport (KIX).
The Expo Legacy Project aims to preserve and pass on the cultures, values, and sustainability messages from many Expo participating countries to future generations through airports, even after the Expo.
The France Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai captivated visitors with an abundance of thoughtfully curated content, including creative staging and exquisite exhibits that symbolized the richness of French culture. Leaving a lasting and positive impression on countless visitors, the pavilion served as a vibrant place of cultural encounter and dialogue. From among its many exhibits, two works expressing the connection between France and Japan through UNESCO World Heritage sites have now been donated from the France Pavilion to KIX. These works have been installed in the International Departures Area of Terminal 1, where they continue to welcome travelers from Japan and around the world. Although it is no longer part of the whole pavilion, the continued presence of these works in the airport’s departure area embodies the hope that the spirit of the Expo will live on—allowing many more visitors to experience and enjoy them, and to learn about the warm exchanges and enduring ties of friendship fostered between France and Japan during the Expo.
To mark this installation, a commemorative ceremony was held at KIX, attended by distinguished guests involved in promoting Japan–France relations, including Ms. Sandrine Mouchet, the consul general of France in Kyoto.
Kansai Airports Group remains committed to contributing to the promotion of exchange and collaboration with local communities and countries around the world through its airport operations, continuing to serve as a gateway for cultural connection beyond borders.
