Kansai International Airport Environmental Initiatives

At Kansai International Airport, we are steadily and appropriately continuing to monitor the surrounding environment, including aircraft noise, in order to maintain a healthy living environment around the airport and operate it in harmony with the local community.

Environmental Monitoring

Environmental Monitoring Plan

We accurately assess the environment around the airport and conduct continuous surveys and evaluations based on an environmental monitoring plan.

Environmental Monitoring Items

  • Noise

Aircraft noise around the airport is continuously measured to assess the situation.

  • Air quality

Measurements are conducted to assess the impact on air quality in the surrounding area.

  • Water quality

The water quality of the sea and inland waters around the airport is surveyed and monitored.

  • Seabed sediment

The seabed environment around the airport is surveyed and monitored using various indicators.

  • Marine organisms

Regular surveys are conducted on benthic organisms and plankton.

  • Terrestrial organisms

Ongoing surveys and monitoring are conducted on the behavior of bird species around the airport island.

Aircraft noise measurement results

At Kansai International Airport, Osaka Itami Airport, and Kobe Airport, aircraft noise measuring stations have been installed around each airport to continuously assess aircraft noise levels in the surrounding areas.
