On Saturday, May 30, Osaka International Airport (ITAMI) once again hosted the “ITAMI Runway Walk,” an annual event for elementary and junior high school students living in the ten municipalities surrounding the airport, along with their parents or guardians. This popular event receives many applications every year.

This year, we were blessed with clear weather, allowing participants to enjoy the sunrise while walking along the runway. Being able to walk and take photos on a runway normally used by numerous aircraft for takeoffs and landings offered a rare opportunity to experience its impressive scale firsthand.

Participants also had the chance to see the airport’s chemical fire engines up close and try a water discharge demonstration, making the airport feel even more familiar and accessible.

We will continue to create events that bring the airport closer to the community. We warmly welcome you to visit the airport anytime.

On May 3, during the Golden Week holidays, Osaka International Airport (ITAMI) hosted a booth at the “Fureai Ryokuchi Festival 2026,” held at Toyonaka City’s Fureai Green Space. Although the weather shifted between rain and clear skies throughout the day, many children enjoyed creating their own original pin badges at our booth.

We will continue working together with the local community and contributing to the development of a vibrant and welcoming city.

As we enter a season of more frequent rain, we can also begin to sense the arrival of early summer. Recently, I’ve noticed hydrangeas starting to bloom along the way to the airport and an increasing variety of new chilled drinks appearing in stores—small signs that summer is just around the corner.
