Kansai Airports Obtains METI DX Certification

Kansai Airports announces that it has been certified under the “DX Certification Program” administered by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), in recognition of its integrated approach to management and the use of digital technology.
The “DX Certification Program” is a national framework established under the Act on Facilitation of Information Processing, through which the government certifies companies that are recognized as being prepared to promote digital transformation (DX) by implementing initiatives aligned with the Digital Governance Code*.
In our efforts to realize a smart airport, we aim to create digital value in three areas: enhancing passenger experience and, in turn, improving passenger satisfaction; optimizing operations and business processes while reducing reliance on human resources; and supporting revenue growth alongside an overall reduction in operating costs. To achieve these goals, we established a framework that advances management and digital utilization in an integrated manner. We believe that the integrated alignment and advancement of our business strategy and digital initiatives contributed to this certification. In addition, we recognize that the certification also reflects the evaluation of the company’s internal initiatives, including a framework for considering and promoting the use of DX across the organization, the development and securing of DX talent, and company‑wide utilization of AI and data.
Kansai Airports Group will continue to actively promote DX, enhance airport convenience and provide safe, secure and comfortable new travel experiences.

*Guidelines issued by METI that outline the actions expected from management – such as formulation and disclosure of a management vision based on social transformation driven by digital technology – with the aim of encouraging companies’ voluntary DX initiatives.
