Kansai Airports is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the 19th MLIT Minister’s Award for the Promotion of Barrier-Free Environments. This recognition reflects our barrier-free initiatives implemented at Kansai International Airport as part of the Terminal 1 renovation project, developed through continuous dialogue with a diverse range of stakeholders, including people with disabilities.
In these initiatives, Kansai Airports worked closely with the Kinki Subcommittee of the Evaluation Council on Facilitating Smooth Modes of Transportation. Wheelchair users, visually and hearing-impaired people and other individuals with diverse disabilities participated in multiple review meetings, follow-up sessions and on-site visits, and their feedback was reflected in the facility improvements to the greatest extent possible. In addition, the improvements were implemented not only in compliance with smooth transportation standards and barrier-free guidelines, but also with a strong focus on user perspectives.
Kansai Airports Group will continue striving to operate airports that a wide variety of passengers can use safely and securely, while supporting a comfortable air-travel experience.
