Maritime disaster drill at the oil tanker berth of KIX

Kansai Airports is pleased to announce that a maritime disaster drill at the oil tanker berth in Kansai International Airport (KIX) will be conducted on 26 November 2025.
With a scenario involving a fuel spill from a tanker arriving at the berth, this drill aims to ensure quick and proper response in the event of an emergency, as well as to enhance disaster preparedness in cooperation with relevant organizations.
Kansai Airports Group will continue to make every effort to ensure safety for passenger travel and provide a safe and secure airport environment for all customers.

– Date & Time: Wednesday, 26 November 2025, 14:00 – 15:20

*The drill will be postponed to 27 November (the same time) in the event of heavy rain.

– Location: Oil tanker berth at KIX and surrounding waters

– Participating organizations:

– Kansai Airport Coast Guard Air Station (patrol boat)
– Senshuminami Regional Fire Department
– Kansai Airport Police Station
– Maritime Disaster Prevention Center
– Kansai International Airport Earthquake and Tsunami Countermeasures Liaison Council
– Kansai Airports (disaster prevention boat and four others)
– Kansai Airports Operation Services (fuel collection vehicle, large chemical high-water sprayer, foam stock solution carrier,
logistics-support vehicle)
– KIX Coastal Tanker Maritime Safety Association (tanker)
– Kanku Enterprise

– Number of participants: Approximately 100 people

(2) Information gathering and communication
(3) Accident reporting and maritime warning
(4) Security at Gate 21
(5) Deployment of containment booms
(6) Gas concentration measurement
(7) Oil spill collection and water-spraying/diffusion
(8) Rescue and transport of injured persons(land rescue)
(9) Firefighting and water spraying
(10) Emergency de-berthing
(11) Emergency evacuation
