\nKansai Airports is giving new life to Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai \u2014 installing exhibits and artworks from the Expo as lasting legacies across our airports. If you were there, come relive the memories. If you weren’t, come experience a piece of the Expo for yourself. Either way, there’s something here for you. The Expo may be over, but its spirit lives on. Come find it at the airport. (*1)<\/p>\n

\nThe red phone box that stood in front of the UK Pavilion was a popular photo spot, loved by visitors for its distinctly British charm.
\nIt was donated to the airport by the UK Pavilion, in celebration of the many exchanges between the UK and Japan that the Expo inspired.
\nOnce a symbol of connection for people around the world, this phone box now watches over the many new connections being made here at the airport every day. (*2).<\/p>\n
On display 24 hours a day. Especially recommended on a bright, sunny day.<\/p>\n
China Pavilion – “Bamboo Slip-Inspired Facade Panel”

\nOne of the China Pavilion’s most distinctive features was its exterior \u2014 designed to resemble an unfurled scroll of bamboo slips, covered in Chinese calligraphy. Among them was a line from the Analects of Confucius familiar to many in Japan: “Is it not a pleasure to have friends come from afar?” This panel was donated to Kansai International Airport by the China Pavilion and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, as a memento of the friendship and exchange the Expo brought between the two countries. France Pavilion – “Across the Archipelago, the Great Pulsation”

\nThe France Pavilion delighted visitors with its rich and varied content – a true celebration of French culture. Two works from the pavilion, each expressing the connections between France and Japan through UNESCO World Heritage Sites from both countries, have been donated to the airport. Look closely and you’ll find four UNESCO World Heritage Sites reproduced in exquisite detail. Stop by for a new photo spot \u2014 the perfect way to spend a few moments before your flight. Canada Pavilion – “Muskoka Chairs, Timber Tiles”

\nThe Canada Pavilion brought Canada’s rich nature, culture, and commitment to sustainability to life for visitors from around the world.
\nTwo of its iconic exhibits \u2014 the Muskoka Chairs and the Timber Tiles \u2014 have been donated to the airport. Take a seat and let your thoughts wander to memories of the Expo, Canada’s great outdoors, and the natural world we all share. (*5)<\/p>\n

Philippine Pavilion – “Rattan Bench”
\n– International Departure Area, Terminal 1 – Near Gate 17 –
\nRattan Bench, Textiles
\nThe Philippine Pavilion was hard to miss \u2014 its striking exterior featured rattan and more than 200 handwoven textiles from across the Philippines. The rattan bench along the side of the pavilion quickly became a favorite spot for visitors waiting in line or taking a break.
\nThe rattan bench and a selection of these handwoven textiles have been donated to the airport by the Philippine Pavilion. Come and enjoy these beautiful examples of traditional Filipino craftsmanship up close (*6).<\/p>\n

Thailand Pavilion – “Songkran (Water Festival) Bowl”

\nThis bowl-shaped sculpture, displayed outside the Thailand Pavilion, represents Songkran \u2014 Thailand’s traditional New Year water festival, recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. And inside the bowl? MYAKU-MYAKU, the official Expo mascot! The sight of MYAKU-MYAKU splashing water with BHUMI-JAI, the Thailand Pavilion’s mascot, is a joyful symbol of friendship, solidarity, and a world without borders (*7).<\/p>\n

Australia Pavilion – “Koala Statue”

\nThe koala statue, a favorite with visitors and one of the pavilion’s most recognizable features, has been donated to the airport by the Australia Pavilion. With its playful colors and endearing presence, it was one of the most popular photo spots at the Expo. Now settled near the departure gate for flights to Australia (*8), the koala is there to cheer on the lively exchange between Japan and Australia.<\/p>\n

\nOsaka Healthcare Pavilion – “Wolf Bench”

\nOriginally exhibited at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, this is an artwork meant to be experienced by sitting in it. After the Expo closed, the ten wolves that inhabited the pavilion each set off on new journeys, heading to people and places in need of art. And one of them has made its way here. The wolf is looking forward to new encounters at the airport. Come and see it on the observation deck at Osaka Itami Airport (*1).

\nThe roof and exterior walls of the Sumitomo Pavilion were clad in plywood made by rotary-cutting Japanese cypress logs into thin sheets. Even the cylindrical cores left behind after the rotary cutting were put to good use, repurposed into benches (*2) and merchandise. Touch and sit on the bench to experience for yourself the Sumitomo Pavilion’s commitment to “valuing each life, one tree at a time.” In the lobby of Osaka Airport Hotel, you can also see the lantern (*3) that was used as part of the UNKNOWN FOREST experience at the Sumitomo Pavilion.<\/p>\n
The bench is accessible during airport terminal operating hours.
\nThe lantern is on display for non-hotel guests as well, from 11:00 to 14:00.<\/p>\n

\nThe tree sculptures that symbolize the NOMO Forest \u2014 a place where life and energy flow in endless cycles \u2014 have made their way from The Land of NOMO, the Panasonic Group Pavilion, to Osaka Itami Airport. By bringing a piece of the pavilion to the airport in a new form, we hope to share the story and world of The Land of NOMO with as many people as possible. Whether you’re catching a flight, visiting the airport, or simply a local passing through \u2014 everyone is welcome.<\/p>\n

\nBelgian Pavilion – “Outdoor Cushions”
\n– Observation Deck, Terminal 1 \/ Level 2, Terminal 2 –
\nBelgian Cushions
\nThe outdoor cushions that were placed outside the Belgian Pavilion were a much-loved rest stop in the Expo site – a welcome place to sit and recharge after all that walking. Still perfectly usable, they have now been given a new home in open-air spaces (*1) such as the airport observation deck. Putting Expo items back to work rather than discarding them is one of the key aims of the Expo Legacy Project.<\/p>\n
Also installed at the Sky View Observation Hall at Kansai International Airport and the rooftop observation deck at Osaka Itami Airport.<\/p>\n
